Shipping

Delivery is available to some parts of the continental United States and to southeast Canada. The cost of delivery ranges from $25 to $150, depending on the distance traveled and the number of chinchillas delivered.

Shipping is available to any major airport in the United States, and to many foreign locations.

Domestic Shipping costs approximately $110 - $180, depending on whether cargo or counter to counter service is used. These prices are current as of September, 2006, but are subject to change as the airlines change their fee schedules. It is an advantage to ship several chinchillas at one time. Freight prices are generally the same for 1 chinchilla as they are for 10. Chinchillas cannot be shipped within the United States during the airline's summer heat embargos, but they can be delivered to certain locations during the summer (see Delivery).

Domestic Veterinary Health Papers are required for all airline shipments. They are $25 per shipment, regardless of how many chinchillas are purchased. This price applies to US and Canadian shipments only.

Shipping Crates are $12 per 2 chinchillas, and are the buyer's to keep. They are made custom for each order. They are made with separate compartments for each chinchilla, with a solid or shavings bottom, and wire mesh sides. Shipping in wire sided cages is the safest way to ship chinchillas, to minimize the danger of heat prostration.

International Shipping costs and requirements vary greatly according to destination. In general, it is almost always most cost effective to ship 10 or more chinchillas at a time. Pick Up / Scheduled Visits. Chinchillas purchased through the site are always available to be picked up in western Ohio by appointment. Visits are also welcome by appointment. Please call us at (785) 336-6833 10am-6pm CST, M-F, or e-mail us at sales@chinchillas.com to schedule a visit and get directions. International clients should make arrangements to fly into Detroit (2 hours) or Chicago O'Hare International Airport (5-6-hours). Domestic clients can fly into Columbus (1 1/2 hours) or Detroit (2 hours). We can assist you in making local hotel reservations if needed.
