About Mark Gillingham
Currently, Mark and his wife Caroline divide their time between Canada and South Africa. Mark Gillingham grew up in Rhodesia and South Africa, where he still has deep roots. Like many kids his age, he attended boarding school. Mark and his wife Caroline were both schooled in Port Elizabeth, where they made long lasting friendships that continue today.
Mark and his father Frank are/were both avid car enthusiasts and entrepeneurs. "In South Africa I had a small collection of about 6 classic Alfa Romeos which now are in a Classic Car Museum in Cape Town. My dad and I were also very fussy with our daily cars and fastidiously kept them maintained and clean. My wife and I in the late 80s and 90s used to go to the Formula One races in South Africa until 1992. After 1992 South Africa stopped hosting the event."
On The Finding of Mr. X, Mark states, "To be able to see this in writing after so many years, of me not knowing what became of the Violets and those who were involved with the Violets not knowing of their origin, it's amazing how it all connects together like a puzzle. Out of the 100 pieces of the puzzle we may not have a couple of the pieces due to the players of this saga being no longer with us. I feel we have done the best that one could do to present the story as accurately as we are able to."
