All animals listed on Chinchillas.com are located in the United States of America, in the state of Kansas. Chinchillas are available for pick-up, shipment, or delivery at the close of the auction or sale, during business hours, and after payment has been made in full. Chinchillas.com exports to more than 30 different countries. E-mail sales@chinchillas.com or call (785) 336-6833 from 10am-6pm CST M-F with questions.

Non-English speaking clients are welcome to e-mail their questions, in their native language, to sales@chinchillas.com. Non-English speaking clients may also make a phone appointment with Chinchillas.com with a scheduled translator.

International Shipping Information

The International Export Fee is $1,600 per shipment for 1-6 chinchillas, plus $75 for each chinchilla over 6, for all countries except Taiwan, China, and Canada. The Canadian export fee is $800 for 1-6 chinchillas, plus $75 for each chinchilla over 6. Each large chinchilla weighing over 700 grams at the time of shipping will incur a $75 freight surcharge for expanded shipping space. Taiwanese and Chinese clients should contact us at sales@chinchillas.com to learn more about shipping to their countries.

  • On-site Insurance - In the event of loss or illness, Chinchillas.com will give the Buyer a credit for the full purchase price of their chinchilla, for up to 90 days from the date of purchase, as long as the animals are in our possession. Additionally, if Chinchillas.com determines that any of the Buyer's chinchillas do not appear to be in export condition prior to export, Chinchillas.com will issue a credit to the buyer for the full purchase price. Board is not refundable. Please note that Chinchillas.com's on-site insurance ceases after 90 days, when the chinchilla(s) is (are) consigned to the airlines, or when the chinchilla leaves our possession; whichever comes first.

Not included in the International Export Fee:

  • Board - Board is free for 14 days, starting on the date of purchase for chinchillas purchased from the Sales Gallery, or the date the Auction closes for chinchillas purchased on the Auction. After the first 14 days, board is .95 cents per day per chinchilla. If bidder/buyer does not complete the purchase and/or take receipt of their chinchilla(s), the 14 days free board does not apply, and board will accrue beginning on the date of purchase/Auction close.
  • Optional Certificates of Authenticity, signed and sealed, are available upon request at $18 each.
  • Certificate of Origin - Certificates of Origin are only required by a few countries. Certificates of Origin are $200 each.
  • Import Permits - Import Permits are required by many countries. It is the importer's responsibility to obtain any required import permits prior to import, and preferably prior to bidding. Any costs associated with obtaining an import permit are the responsibility of the importer.
  • Import reqirements, taxes and fees - It is the importer's responsibility to comply with their country's import requirements, and pay any applicable import taxes, customs fees, or applicable fees that their government charges to them. It is the importer's responsibility to make himself or herself aware of all import requirements and fees prior to placing an order.
  • Import Brokers - If the importer chooses to utilize the services of an import broker or intermediary consignee, the fees associated with those services are the importer's responsibility.
  • chinchilla international shipping switzerland europe chinchillasVeterinary Inspection / Quarantine Fees - Some countries may charge for veterinary inspections and/or quarantine. These fees are the responsibility of the importer. European countries may list veterinary inspection fees as the AVI or LGC fee on the airwaybill, and they may charge the fee for shipments entering Europe in one country, but with a final destination in another country.
  • Postponement of Export - If the importer cancels or postpones a shipment after the shipping date has been confirmed, a fee of $1,000 will be added to the invoice for re-scheduling of export services.
  • Post-Consignment Insurance - Chinchillas.com's on-site insurance ceases after 90 days, when the chinchillas are consigned to the airlines, or when the chinchillas leave our possession; whichever comes first. Starting at the time of consignment to the airlines or departure from our possession, all risk of loss becomes the buyer's responsibility. Buyer's should make arrangements with a live animal insurance company for any additional mortality and/or medical insurance coverage the buyer requires.
  • Pre-purchase Exams - Buyers have both the right and responsibility to examine, or have a representative or licensed veterinarian examine, any chinchilla the buyer is interested in purchasing, and be satisfied with the results, prior to making a purchase. Chinchillas.com will provide the contact information, upon request, of the herd veterinarian, or the buyer may hire a licensed veterinarian of his or her choice. The cost of farm calls, office visits, exams, labs, cultures, or other testing that the buyer might like to have done is the buyer's responsibility.

Other requirements:

  • International clients must pay for their chinchillas within 5 days of the purchase date. Export/shipping fees and board must be paid in full two weeks prior to the confirmed export date.
  • Buyers must take possession of their chinchillas in a timely manner. Unless prior arrangements are made with Chinchillas.com, clients should be prepared to accept their orders within 90 days of the date the first chinchilla in the order is purchased. Chinchillas.com exports from October through May, weather and destination depending. For orders placed after the last spring export date, buyers must be prepared to import on the first fall export date.
  • Chinchillas.com requires a copy of the client's import permit and any additional veterinary or import regulations that the client's country requires at least 2 weeks prior to the confirmed export date.


    Domestic Shipping Information

For Alaskan or Hawaiian destinations, please contact us for a shipping estimate. Each large chinchilla weighing over 700 grams at the time of shipping will incur a $75 freight surcharge for expanded shipping space. Note: if fewer than 6 chinchillas are being shipped at once, the freight surcharge for large chinchillas may be waived.

    Domestic buyers are welcome to pick their chinchillas up by appointment in Kansas. Domestic (US) delivery is available to a few select locations. Contact us for more information and pricing on delivery.
